As a data-driven company pursuing an IPO, they are currently looking for an energetic and accomplished Vice President of Data Technology, reporting directly to their Chief Data Officer (CDO), to be primarily responsible for their Data Warehousing infrastructure, architecture and Business Intelligence.

This Vice President of Data Technology will lead the engineering technology team that is responsible for investing in their data infrastructure, warehouse and building data products that power their business from reporting and critical business analytics to the machine learning algorithms that drive their growth engine. The Data Technology team owns data infrastructure, pipelines, the data lake and data marts, and data architecture within the organization. You will lead and develop a growing team of engineers that are accelerating our growth. The ideal candidate will have proven, hands-on experience leading a team of data engineers, building out a team with mature processes and operations, and working with the business to create a well-defined vision and roadmap.

Responsibilities include:
Develop and deliver the strategic roadmap for data across our growing startup including investing in our modern data infrastructure, data warehouse and data products

Set and manage the SLAs for our data assets, classifying critical and non-critical systems and processes and ensuring availability and freshness of data

Drive the hiring and expansion of an already impressive team

Partner with other technology leaders, our Head of Security and finance team to execute on our IPO readiness program

Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, piloting new techniques within our infrastructure. Liaise and select external partners and vendors investing in new technologies and assessing total cost of ownership

Coach Data Engineering Managers to support the day-to-day operations of the data engineering team, including refining and prioritizing the backlog, and streamlining workflows and processes

Treat data quality and data architecture as first class deliverables; Work with the team to create data pipelines, transformations, tables, buckets, schedules, DAGs, and all the other components of a mature, modern data ecosystem

Work with stakeholders and product management to define and prioritize the data engineering roadmap

Improve performance, efficiency, and quality wherever you can

Qualifications:
Experience leading a Data Infrastructure and Engineering team with a track record of delivering data at-scale for a growing business

Viewpoints on industry practices with an ability to match new innovations with our growing needs

Track of record of piloting and successfully adopting new technologies, with experience negotiating with external partners on terms and implementation

Hands-on software development experience in a professional setting focused on data engineering and building robust data pipelines to support batch and near-real-time data consumers

Solid experience in Python, SQL, ETL and orchestration tools like dbt and Airflow, and especially modern cloud data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake or Redshift. Experience in navigating and utilizing services in a cloud platform, preferably AWS

5+ years solid experience with SQL, data modeling, and data architecture for large-scale projects in an enterprise environment

Experience with data security and compliance requirements, ideally with IPO experience

Comfortable managing a roadmap and diverse set of stakeholders in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

10+ years of solid people management experience, including hiring and helping others grow their careers

An interest in partnering with the broader technology leadership team to drive the overall improvement of our Engineering function
