Sr. Data Scientist (ML Product Catalog)

Our client is one of the most successful technology start-ups in the last 5 years.  They have grown to 300+ employees, their service area is over 60% of homes in the US and are valued at 4.2 Billion dollars (Feb 2018).

This client has a fast growing 25+person centralized data analytics team, made up of Sr. Data Engineers and Sr. Data Scientists.  2018 will be a high growth year, with plans to double the size of the team.

They are currently looking to add a Sr. Data Scientist in their Product Catalog team.  You will be embedded in the team and tackle ambitious projects with a team of experienced Product Managers and ML Engineers.  Many of these projects will focus on how the quality of the product catalog affects customer behavior.  This role will include heavy predictive modeling and machine learning centered around customer behavior.

Responsibilities include:

Conduct quantitative research and analysis of our catalog data requiring complex data retrieval that results in actionable insights and recommendations

Identify key questions, problems, and KPIs to increase the depth of our catalog and improve the experience of our customers using your sharp business acumen and judgment

Help develop effective and scalable data models in our production environment and develop, build, and maintain a user friendly version of our catalog in our data warehouse

Work daily with product managers and engineers to discover and guide the most impactful product investments

Design and analyze rigorous A/B experiments

Provide access to data through dashboards and other analytical tools to empower your team through self service. Look for opportunity to automate insights through alerting and anomaly detection

Qualifications:

Passion for, and a track record of leveraging data for business impact, preferably in a consumer facing digital environment

Ability to write complex and performant queries in your dialect of SQL to extract data from our Redshift cluster

Experience building tools and automated processes to extract, clean, and distill data in a procedural language of your choice such as Python, Julia or R

Understanding of A/B testing and other forms of statistical analysis using statistical packages similar to R, SAS, or Pandas.

Machine Learning experience or  understanding of methodologies / concepts strongly preferred.

Experience with analytical visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, D3.js or similar tools

Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex problems into meaningful and digestible insights
