Sr. Data Scientist (Product Science)

Our client is one of the most successful technology start-ups in the last 10 years. They have grown to 300+ employees and service 15,000 stores across 4,000. They just closed a $600 million dollar round of funding, bringing their valuation to $7.6 billion (Oct 2018).
The client has a 20+person centralized data science team, made up of Managers and Sr. Data Scientists. The team has almost tripled in size in the last year and a half and the growth is not slowing down, as they are currently looking to add multiple Sr. Data Scientists and have openings in the following product domains – Consumer, Pricing, Retail Partnerships, Emerging Products and Marketing.
The Sr. Data Scientist will be embedded within their data product team to identify key metrics, conduct deep and rigorous analysis, experimentation, predictive modeling and ML and deliver insights to the team to drive product growth and optimization.
Responsibilities include:
Identify key questions, problems, and KPIs using your sharp business acumen and judgment
Conduct quantitative research and analysis requiring complex data retrieval that results in actionable insights and recommendations
Design and analyze rigorous a/b experiments
Analyze and share the results of product features and find opportunities to improve them
Work daily with product managers, engineers, and designers to discover and guide the most impactful product investments
Provide access to data through dashboards to empower your team, and look for opportunity to automate insights through alerting and anomaly detection
Requirements:
Passion for, and track record of leveraging data for business impact, preferably in a consumer facing digital environment
Expert level ability to retrieve data using SQL, HiveQL, Python or other scripting languages
Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex problems into digestible insights
Understanding of statistical analysis using statistical packages similar to R, SAS, or Pandas
Effective data visualization skills with analytical tools such as Tableau, Looker, D3.js or other tools
