The company is a high profile well-funded startup that is supported by some of the top names in the media industry, including The Lenfest Institute, Mike Bloomberg and Stewart Bainum Jr. Solely focused on the Baltimore area, they are creating a new paradigm for digital first, cross-channel local media. Their content will extend across web, mobile (app), radio (terrestrial and satellite) and video (TV and digital). Their vision is to be the leading provider of news and lifestyle content in the Baltimore area.

The company is seeking an experienced Social Media Marketing Manager who is looking to apply their skillset in an entrepreneurial and fast-growing organization. The role reports to the CMO, so there will be an unusual level of influence, impact and autonomy. The ideal candidate will balance strategy and execution and has experience across earned, owned, and paid digital media channels.

Responsibilities:

Partner with leadership to understand company mission / business objectives. Promote our journalists and content through social media.

Develop an innovative social media strategy that helps the company strengthen its brand, extend its target reach, and engage with its readers.

Partner with colleagues in Marketing, Product and Editorial to develop engaging and effective social media campaigns. Partner with local community to develop relevant and engaging content that attracts readership.

Select and manage social media marketing tools and create effective content management processes and maintains a consistent voice.

Lead interaction with customers and other stakeholders via the company’s social media accounts.

Serve as the company’s subject matter expert, actively researching social media trends, coaching journalists, and the broader marketing team on best practices.

Develop, track, and own key performance indicators (KPIs) for the social media channel. Become an expert in our customers, competitors, and industry.

Requirements:

5+ years in social media for brands that tell inspiring and engaging stories in a multi-channel environment.

Demonstrated skills and experience leveraging data and insights to inform planning and decision making.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is creativity.

Skills in using social media platforms and deep experience using tools that analyze social media platforms are a must.

Extensive B2C experience

Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Flexible style of working to be hands-on or/and strategic based on business needs.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Masters is a plus.
