Technical Product Manager (Data Science)

Our client, Yum!, is a global restaurant company, which engages in the development and operation of some of the most recognizable brands in the world. They have over 30,000 employees and operate over 40,000 restaurants in 135 nations and territories.

Yum! is in the early stages of building out a new center of excellence (COE) for engineering and data science. They are making this investment to help optimize with digital channels and technology innovations with the end goal of creating competitive advantages for their restaurants around the globe.

One of the immediate needs is for a technical Product Manager to support their Data Science team. This Product Manager must combine a deep understanding of their existing products and member needs with their development team capabilities and partner opportunities in order to define and manage a compelling product portfolio that strategically meets measurable business objectives.

Responsibilities include:
Develop a deep understanding of our business and data science product offerings.

Work with appropriate cross-departmental business owners to identify problem areas and coordinate the development and execution of agreed-upon priorities.

Define product requirements (through roadmaps and workflows) and write usage scenarios to direct our development teams.

Provide leadership and guidance to business owners as they advocate for their needs through the development of business cases and product plans.

Operate as the voice of the customer to evaluate and identify where system enhancements are required and assist in new projects and product features from ideations to launches.

Provide project management and change management assistance to the Data Science team as needed to support new initiatives.

Partner with our data analysts to test and validate whether functional specifications are being met during the development process.

Determine, monitor and report customer usage metrics for key performance indicators.

Keep track of overall project timelines and individual tasks, and follow the escalation process in case of slippages.

Work closely with various departments and business process owners.

Communicate with all areas of the organization and partner with business owners,IT, developers and project management counterparts to define the requirements.

Engage with our marketing and communications teams to define the go-to-market strategy, product positioning, key features, advantages and benefits.

Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in product/project management and development.

Experience should include utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills; identifying problems, research causes and alternatives, and providing effective solutions; and employing root-cause analyses in a technical environment.

5+ years of experience with web and mobile development products.

Experience working across departments and geographies for large-scale project/product development.

Proven experience developing business cases, product plans and financial analyses for new products in preparation for senior leadership review and prioritization.

Excellent executive presence, interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with all levels within an internationally based, multicultural organization.

Customer experience-orientation with attention to detail.

Excellent verbal, written and documentation skills.

Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

Ability to work with little or no supervision, yet be an integral part of a team.

Proven ability to meet established deadlines and be proactive in achieving desired outcomes.

Proven success supporting technology applications across a broad user base.

Exceptional organizational, planning, analytical and prioritization skills.

Demonstrated record of success in defining, leading and launching data science products.

Product management certification or business analyst certification is a plus.
