The Sunlight For All Institute is launching The Baltimore Banner, a new paradigm for digital first, cross-channel local media. Their content will extend across web, mobile, radio and video. Their vision is to be the leading provider of news and lifestyle content in the Baltimore area.

The company is seeking a Head of People, Culture & Diversity to report to the CEO and develop strategic initiatives that create the most desirable professional environment in their industry. The Company believes that culture is the critical ingredient for success and as such are looking to develop a unique culture that supports the growth of team members and creates an environment where people can achieve their true potential. This is an early stage opportunity and gives the right person an opportunity to drive the development of the culture well at the ground level.

This role will be the senior-most HR position in the organization. It will be a highly strategic role that focuses on the development, implementation and iteration of programs related to employee development, culture and diversity. Most of the other HR functions will be outsourced to vendors. This role will oversee these relationships and functions, but will not be involved in the day-to-day of benefits, compensation, talent acquisition, payroll, etc.

Responsibilities Include:
Develop a training and development program for each department that ensures employees have an opportunity to continuously grow their skills, challenge themselves in new ways and advance in their careers

Articulate the corporate culture and then act as a culture coach to team leaders, ensuring that values are clearly communicated in each department

Develop culture programs and workshops that ensure that our corporate values are threaded into the fabric of everyday life at the company

Be an active cultural consultant to the executive team

Develop aspects of the new hire onboarding process that ensure all employees understand our culture and our employee development opportunities

Develop and run company events, internal communications and other forms of team building activities

Develop diversity and inclusion policies, processes

Develop strategy and company-wide roll-out of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives

Provide managers the tools and knowledge required to adopt and disseminate DEI principles

Qualifications:
Extensive experience in human resources and/or human capital management consulting

Experience developing and implementing programs around corporate culture, DEI and employee development

Genuine desire to make the company the best place to work in all of Baltimore and in our industry nationally

Experience acting as a partner and consultant with stakeholders at all levels of a company

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Academic success in a related discipline

Experience working in a mission-driven environment is a plus
