Our client is one of the biggest names in eCommerce / online retail. They have close to 6000 employees and did over $3 Billion in sales last year. Every decision made at the company, big or small, is backed by data.
Reporting up into the President of the company, their Intelligence team supports different areas of the business, where a team of analysts directly drive optimization, from project scoping to implementation. The Intelligence team has more than doubled in size in the last year and the Director of Business Analytics is looking to hire an Associate Director of Analytics to support the Operations area of the business.
The Associate Director of Operations Analytics will push data- driven insights that will drive business performance with a focus on supply chain planning, logistics, transportation, demand planning and product performance. The Associate Director of Analytics will be responsible for multiple business areas and directly lead a team of managers and analysts to partner with key stakeholders within the organization to drive strategic and tactical decisions. The ability to be conversant and hands on with the data is critical. The ideal candidate will have a combination of leadership skills to develop and grow a high-performing team as well as the technical curiosity to push the development of a state of the art analytics platform.
Responsibilities Include:
Work with operations team to develop the best in class large blended large parcel and small parcel delivery network across US and EU.
Build world-class analytics to help us solve our thorniest operations problems (e.g. how can we cut out processing time, balance labor, minimize cost, optimize the network, etc.).
Work with the business partners optimize our US fulfillment strategy and import strategy.
Develop monitoring of our transportation network, and build early warning systems to preempt failures.
Develop frameworks and metrics to help analyze costs/transit times with our small parcel carriers (e.g. FedEx, UPS, etc.) and measure impacts of service jump/zone skipping and other optimizations.
Wok with business partners to build a financial tracking/forecasting capability to ensure we are hitting our financial goals.
Direct ownership for our analytics platforms and data hygiene. This position will own the validation, regular testing, and roadmap development for our analytics tools and measurements.
Partnering with internal customers (e.g., logistics, supply chain planning, demand planning, logistics etc.) to develop analyses that lead to actionable insights that accelerate profitable growth
Leverage large and complex customer/transactional databases e.g. SQL, Netezza, and Vertica, Teradata, etc. through the use of data mining and predictive modeling techniques (Proficiency with tools like Python, SAS, R and Tableau highly desirable)
Prioritization and project management of team activities while proactively identifying areas in which analytics efforts can produce a strong value add
Qualifications:
BA in computer science, economics, or other quantitative discipline with strong academic record
7-10 years of total experience in a business intelligence, data science or business analytics
Proficiency with OLAP technologies, SQL, and BI tools like Microstrategy, Cognos, etc.)
Hands-on experience with predictive modeling, data mining and machine learning a plus coupled with proficiency with tools like Python, Java, Tableau, C++, SAS, R. etc.
