Our client, The Philadelphia Inquirer, was founded in 1829 and is the third-oldest continually operating daily newspaper in the United States. It was purchased in 2014 by the non-profit Lenfest Institute, which was founded by philanthropist Gerry Lenfest to protect and promote the integrity of journalism – specifically local journalism.

The Philadelphia Inquirer publishes a news website (Inquirer.com) and two daily newspapers (The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News) and has come a long way in terms of modernizing its operations and delivering content across all digital channels. The focus now is to modernize their Marketing department to enable them to build audiences more effectively for their content and monetize those audiences.

One of the current positions of focus is a Digital Yield & Revenue Operations Manager that is responsible for the programmatic revenue performance for Inquirer.com and other Inquirer digital properties. Reporting directly to the VP of Digital Sales Strategy & Operations, this person will have an intricate understanding of the digital advertising landscape and is equipped with the ability to best position The Inquirer to maximize revenue opportunities of an ever-changing, competitive marketplace.

Responsibilities include:
Maximize revenue from the Inquirer’s demand partners and direct sales business by optimizing our various demand sources, ad serving/delivery, demand stack, and liquidity

Own and drive programmatic revenue performance to achieve or exceed revenue targets

Responsible for maximizing programmatic revenue and the utilization of inventory via pricing rules within auctions

Author and manage pricing for various demand sources within the Inquirer’s digital advertising business

Analysis of revenue, supply and demand, auction win/loss rates & floor pricing

Optimize pricing and inventory volume through programmatic platforms for the purpose of maximizing revenue

Project management of new programmatic initiatives

Work collaboratively with our programmatic partners and/or analyst teams to identify opportunities for maximizing revenue on a daily basis

Contribute knowledge and expertise to our ongoing projects such as redesigning our ad map across various platforms

Provide daily, weekly and monthly yield reporting on various KPIs to stakeholders

Collaborate with Product Development & Engineering, Sales, Editorial, Marketing or Finance to perform various ad hoc tasks.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience with managing programmatic demand on the publisher side with a track record of reaching or exceeding revenue targets

Experience with programmatic buying and selling systems

Proven track record and network of contacts at but not limited to DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, Ad Tech companies, and Video partners.

Extensive knowledge of digital advertising and its ecosystem, various ad formats, and pricing strategies.

Exceptional project management and interpersonal skills – ability to multitask, adapt, and communicate effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with ever-changing priorities

Solutions-oriented mindset with strong strategic thinking & analytical skills

Ability to act upon industry trends quickly to identify new business opportunities, while maintaining a sharp focus on day-to-day execution.
