Data Science / Advanced Analytics Manager

IQ Workforce is a leading recruiting firm for the analytics community. We are working with a mid-sized niche retailer with ~5,000 employees, 700 stores and a growing eCommerce business. They are developing an advanced analytics / data science team to be based in the San Antonio area.

To enable accurate strategic decision making, the Manager of Data Analytics conducts advanced statistical analysis by collecting and using a comprehensive set of data that explains all potential business drivers including external and internal factors: the economy, retail trends and competitor activity as well as product assortment, pricing, staffing and marketing.

Responsibilities:

Analyzes data and builds statistical models to optimize profits: typically in the following areas: Traffic/conversion models, marketing mix models, pricing, staffing, assortment optimization, store operations/labor.

Influences senior management decision making on the most crucial decisions facing the company.

Thought-provoker interacting across the company and contributing to the culture of fact-based management.

Develops effective presentations concerning complex ideas that can be communicated in a straight forward manner.

Continually builds and develops analytic skills to stays up to speed with innovation, trends and best practices

Works to ensure the integration of accurate and complete data sources across the retail brand organization.

Establishes strong relationships with senior management and translates data-based insights into actionable initiatives

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or work experience in highly quantitative area

MBA or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline

Proven ability to build relationships and influence executives

Technical Expertise: knowledge of statistical packages (R or Python), financial modeling (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint)

Strong Communication Skills: ability to clearly convey very complex ideas in simple easy to understand ways – both in writing and verbally

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.

Best in class statistical skills needed in all areas relevant to business decision making
