Syncarpha Capital builds and manages commercial scale solar power facilities around the U.S. The company is growing rapidly and needs an entrepreneurially-minded controller to run, build and continuously improve their accounting, reporting and financial control functions.

The challenge for this role will be to learn the business quickly and keep up with the day-to-day deliverables of the department while making process improvements and implementing controls that will make the team more efficient.

The Controller will lead all day-to-day accounting and cash operations and supervise a team of 4-6 staff members (and growing) including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, consolidations and budgeting. Key responsibilities also include managing staff, mentoring, training, evaluating and recruiting within the finance department.

This position reports to the VP of Finance.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and oversee the timely preparation and distribution of financial reports to management, investors, and financing parties.

Oversees the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.

Ensure all cash is recorded and reconciled on a timely, accurate and efficient bases (we maintain over 200 bank accounts and growing).

Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts and overhead cost allocation.

Establish, monitor, and enforce generally accepted accounting policies and procedures.

Critically review reports to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Evaluate, review and update accounting procedures, processes and controls to ensure accurate financial reporting, efficient use of personnel and adequate safeguarding of assets.

Oversee the integrity of the accounting general ledgers and related systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

Work with VP of Finance to lead financial planning, scenario planning, capital planning, and annual budgeting processes.

Work with Operations team and Senior Management to drive the annual budgeting and planning process for solar plant operations.

Compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.

Continually work with VP of Finance, Operations and Finance team members to assess changes and improvements needed in the company and take action as necessary.

Based on projected growth levels, plan for the appropriate staffing of finance personnel.

Oversee the annual CPA reviews and audits of financial statements.

Oversee financing compliance requirements (i.e., financial covenant compliance).

Lead or assist in accounting for potential merger/acquisitions.

Work with team to continue to create, improve, update training manuals for all new team members working within Controllership function.

Requirements:

Accounting degree, CPA license preferred.

8-10 years previous relevant experience, including experience as a Controller of an entity with at least $100M in revenue and with multiple divisions/entities.

Strong Project management and process management skills.

Strong people management, leadership, communication skills.

Strong computer skills, Excel a must (Intacct, Smartsheet experience a plus)

Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management.

Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance personnel.
