The company is a high profile well-funded startup that is supported by some of the top names in the industry, including The Lenfest Institute, Bloomberg and Stewart Bainum. Solely focused on the Baltimore area, they are creating a new paradigm for digital first, cross-channel local media. Their content will extend across web, mobile (app), radio (terrestrial and satellite) and video (TV and digital). Their vision is to be the leading provider of news and lifestyle content in the Baltimore area.

The company is searching for a Chief Product Officer who will report to the CEO. This key role will be responsible for the strategy behind their platforms and products and the and execution of that strategy.

The Chief Product Officer will build a team and shape the processes, culture and structure of the engineering organization. He/she will develop close partnerships with external vendors and supplement their efforts with a small and nimble team of in-house engineering and product management professionals.

Key Deliverables:

Build, lead, inspire and continuously evolve the product development organization

Deliver an ambitious but achievable product roadmap with weekly, monthly, and quarterly milestones; hold teams and partners accountable for timely execution

Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization to drive business outcomes

Aggressively execute against product delivery via strong technical acumen and operational rigor

Lead all phases of product development and delivery, including concept, testing, and launch, serving as the main point of contact across the executive team and board of directors

Bring operational rigor to the product team in requirement gathering, product design, development and roll out.


Extensive experience in product development, in an agile environment, with experience managing other product managers and designers

Expertise in developing and delivering platforms and systems for media consumption, digital advertising, digital publishing and/or subscription-based content

Extensive experience recruiting, retaining and leading high-functioning engineering and product development teams

Demonstrable experience building trusting relationships with cross-functional leaders, teams, and external partners

Ability to translate strategy into execution; holistically identify and define organizational objectives and implement processes and systems that support those goals

Willing to take feedback, learn and grow; an ethos of continuous improvement

Exceptional analytical, strategic and critical thinking skills; management by numbers with demonstrable abilities in data-driven decision making.

Start-up experience will not be necessary but would be nice to have

Media experience is not essential, however B2C experience is highly desirable
