Our client, The Philadelphia Inquirer, was founded in 1829 and is the third-oldest continually operating daily newspaper in the United States. It was purchased in 2014 by the non-profit Lenfest Institute, which was founded by philanthropist Gerry Lenfest to protect and promote the integrity of journalism – specifically local journalism.
The Philadelphia Inquirer publishes a news website (Inquirer.com) and two daily newspapers (The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News) and has come a long way in terms of modernizing its operations and delivering content across digital channels. The focus now is to modernize their Marketing department to enable them to build audiences more effectively for their content and monetize those audiences.
One of the key positions of focus is an Acquisition Associate that will support the Acquisition Manager and VP of Subscription Marketing in execution of the acquisition marketing plans. The goal of this role is to become an indispensable part of the team and collaborate on projects aimed at improving non-subscriber user journey from top of the funnel to conversion, optimizing purchase flow, driving conversion rates, and ultimately growing subscription revenue. Acquisition Associate will work with cross-functional teams, from Editorial to Product & Engineering to Data & Analytics to help implement acquisition marketing initiatives and drive the subscription business forward.
Responsibilities include:
Supports Acquisition Marketing Manager on execution of all campaigns & initiatives focused on getting new subscribers
In charge of most of campaign project management/execution/day-to-day work and cross-team collaboration, making sure projects are on track and adhere to approved processes/best practices
Owns processes and project documentation (statuses, timelines, tickets, briefs etc.)
Is able to help pull basic/intermediate level data for Manager/VP and use it make high-level conclusions
Ensures seamless project workflow and addresses any issues as they arise
Qualifications:
2-3 years of digital marketing experience, ideally in a publishing/media or ecommerce sphere
Proactive self-starter, eager to learn and grow, and have a passion to seek & identify opportunities for business growth
Basic understanding of principles of branding, marketing communications, graphic design, accessibility, and user experience
An innovator at heart, always looking for new ideas to improve business results
Experience in finding & interpreting reliable data to help answer questions, identify gaps and opportunities, and ultimately achieve acquisition goals
A collaborator, able to work closely with cross-functional teams and oversee projects from inception to final result
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and juggling multiple projects at one time
A can do attitude, think positively and seek out challenges to grow as a marketer and a human being
