Senior Data Scientist - NLP / Product Science

IQ Workforce is a leading recruiting firm for the analytics community.
We are working with a fast-growing, early-stage media tech company in NYC on a really interesting data science role. They provide a machine-learning tools that examine social video for context and suitability of potential advertisers. This role will report to the CTO and work on their core product. As a result it will have a huge impact on the business and be highly visible.
You will utilize your skills in statistics to derive new metrics and processing methodologies for existing data as well as determining how data from new sources could be useful. You will work closely with the data science and engineering team to improve computational efficiency of existing software, develop new data models, and discover new data stories within our existing database.
Key Requirements Include:
Excellent communication skills when working with other team members to translate business problems to actionable tools, insights and models
MS or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, or other applicable field of study or equivalent work experience
Experience solving problems using statistical and quantitative tools
Experience developing statistical models and analysis using text and numerical data
Strong statistical skills
Strong programming skills in Python
Experience using scikit-learn or TensorFlow
Understanding of database technologies and the ability to formulate complex queries to extract data
Ability to examine large quantities of data, derive useful patterns, and turn that observation into practical code
Being a goal-oriented self-starter
Possession of an enthusiastic and curious mind
A team player who enjoys collaborating with others
Ideal Candidates Will Also Have:
Advanced programming skills, preferably with Python
Advanced competence in SQL
Experience applying NLP to data science problems
Prior exposure to distributed data platforms such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Cassandra, EMR, Redshift
Experience building data visualizations to illustrate complex concepts
