"Behind Screen #3" by Eric Butler, author of the Inside Analytics blog

The NYTimes has an article today discussing how content providers are plowing ahead with big plans for mobile devices.  The very smart folks at ESPN are at the forefront of this industry, as they have figured out how to deliver the right content, at the right time, to their customers.  They see the mobile screen as a critical delivery tool.
"People talk about it being the third screen," says John Zehr, senior vice president for digital video and mobile products at ESPN.  "I talk about it being the first screen because it's the closest to you."
The article notes that they are leveraging data derived from one screen (computer) to better understand what types of content to push to another screen (mobile):
"For its part, ESPN is not holding back.  It already tracks what computer users read on its web site to determine what like-minded sports fans want to view on their phones, and is pursuing a patent tio protect the technologies underlying its multiscreen effort."
 Executive-level BI Positions
Location: New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago - $150,000 - $250,000

Our team has been engaged by one of the top media companies in the world to help build their Business Intelligence practice.  The firm has an extremely strong digital marketing analytics team to go with a top research team.  They are looking for executive-level BI professionals to take leadership positions in their key markets, help to build their practice within the existing (blue-chip) client base, and leverage their considerable internal resources.  They are looking for candidates that have expertise in two of the following three:  marketing analytics, market research and modeling.  Experience in a media company is a plus but outside industry expertise will be seriously considered, as well.
Manager or Director of Web Analytics
Location: NY $80 - $150k

We were just called in by this fascinating venture-backed startup in NYC to find someone to start, build and run their web analytics function.  The company produces and broadcasts (via podcast) original short content on the web.  They are in the process of creating over 100 channels of programming and striking partnership/distribution deals for their content.  They would love to have someone with tv and/or media industry expertise, but they will consider very smart, cutting-edge thinkers that come out of other verticals.  35 employees currently.  Equity participation is available.
 Manager of Web Analytics
Location: Washington, DC - $80k + options

Our team was engaged by one of the Top-5 Best Funded Start-ups in the country to find someone to come in and start their web analytics function.  This company is a pay-as-you-go mobile service provider that is targeting the "tween" market.  They are currently using Google Analytics but they will be willing to invest in other tools and technologies once the function is established and providing value to the sales and marketing teams.
 VP of Web Analytics
Location: New York - $140 - 225k

Our client is a top global direct marketing agency.  They are seeking a new leader for their web analytics practice based in NY.  Like many of their competitors they have a huge pipeline of demand for WA services and they are limited in growth only by their ability to articulate an offering and put together the right talent.  They need someone that can build a team and manage major client relationships in the pharma, CPG & FS industries.  Very visible role in a blue chip agency.
Director of Web Analytics & Online Marketing
Location: Boston, MA - $130k - 160k

This major insurance provider is consistently ranked among the best companies in the country to work for.  They have started a new consumer-focused research & marketing group that is designed to generate sales leads via a network of company-owned web sites.  They are looking for a Director to come in and take ownership of this new team (4-5 people).  This role will oversee all analytics, marketing and strategy.  Unusual scope, great brand and deep resources make this a compelling opportunity.
 Assistant Manager of Web Analytics
Location: Princeton, NJ - $80k

One of the best brands in the publishing world - both online & offline is seeking a "Senior Analyst+".  This means they are looking for someone that has been an expert analyst and is now ready to really work on a more strategic level with demanding internal clients in marketing & sales departments.  Omniture shop, but any major tool experience will be considered.  More important is analytical skills, understanding of the web space and ability to collaberate with tough senior execs.
 Senior Analyst
Location: New York, NY - $80k to $90k

This blue-chip global direct marketing agency is seeking an experienced analyst to join their NYC team.  The team is primarily focused on web analytics, although there is some exposure to cross-channel marketing efforts on behalf of some clients.  Opportunity to work under some of the best people in the marketing analytics world.  There is heavy reporting and analysis, but there is also a lot of client contact, so hard skills & soft skills are both required.
