Our team has been hard at work for the last several months rolling out new site features for the analytics community. We are excited to announce the following sections on www.IQWorkforce.com:

  • Web Analytics Rock Stars: Thought leaders in the web analytics community will be contributing content exclusively for IQ Workforce. The blogs and video blogs will focus on career and community issues for analytics professionals. Our first piece, entitled "Evaluating Job Opportunities" was contributed by Judah Phillips. Judah is the director of web analytics for a large international media company and a contributing blogger for WebAnalyticsDemystified. We will be adding content from other leaders in the space every few weeks, so please check back often.

Evaluating Job Opportunities by Judah Phillips

Job opportunities in Internet marketing and analytics are more numerous today than ever before. Not all Internet jobs, however, are created equal, regardless of title and salary. You should use a number of different factors to evaluate job opportunities:

  • Continuous improvement. The Internet is constantly evolving, and your job needs to provide an opportunity to keep up with emerging technologies whether technically or in business context. The right job today should give you the chance to expand your skill set in a way that prepares you to deliver on tomorrow’s business challenges.
  • Work life harmony. People often talk about work-life balance, and that’s fine. But that statement implies that to balance life, you need to take away from work, and to balance work, you need to take away from life.
