Web Analytic Wednesday at Avenue A - Razorfish
Matt Sparks and I went to the Web Analytics Wednesday event in NYC last night - hosted by Avenue A - Razorfish in their fantastic Times Square offices.
They have a huge atrium / reception area on the 18th floor where a stage was set up for a presentation by Eric Peterson. Eric did not disappoint with his “Future of Web Analytics” presentation. He really got the crowd of ~160 people worked up - evidenced by the fact that they wouldn’t let him off the stage for an hour+ after the presentation with question after question. Thank goodness for Joel Colleymore, who aided Eric with Corona refills to keep him going…
I think this new format is a huge improvement over the “meet at the bar and chat over beer and wine” setups of the past. Don’t get me wrong - I enjoy chatting over beer and wine as much as the next guy, but I think that everyone at last night’s event walked away with a much better return on their time investment.
Hearing the perspective of an industry leader and having the chance to hear the questions and answers from people in the space gave some meat and potatoes to what had been a cocktail party.
I think that AA-RF did a very smart thing by hosting the event on their home court. Their analytics team was out in force and from my perspective, they helped their brand quite a bit - they walked away looking like leaders in the space.
Next month, Ogilvy is apparently planning on hosting the event in their offices. Should be very interesting to see how that goes as Joel and AA-RF set a pretty high bar last night.
